Quality vs. Quantity: Finding Balance in Our Endeavors

Anything we set out to do involves the two Q’s - quality and quantity.
Quality - the standard of something as measured against other things of a similar kind; the degree of excellence of something.
Quantity - the amount or number of something material or immaterial.
In nearly every instance, increased quantity over time adjusted for various factors will produce increased quality.
Take more jump shots, become a better shooter.
Train more jiu jitsu, become a better grappler.
Make more content, become a better creator.
If only life required us to do one thing, and one thing alone. Of course, there are people that are in a position to be able to do just that - dedicate themselves to one craft. It’s not as though they don’t still maintain relationships, walk their dog, cook dinner, and call their credit card company about a mysterious charge now and then. But their core, their craft, is one.
What if we are chasing our dream, one that’s taken years of our lives to distill down, but it requires us to compromise in ways that we question if we’re capable of?
I will be making my first long form YouTube content starting on my next trip. I have wavered about whether or not to do it, because I felt like stretching myself too thin would compromise the quality of my primary focus.
Time and energy. Quality and quantity. The levers that make the world go round.
Just as one feels they have made it beyond the big bumps they faced in the road before, the road itself ceases to exist. Back to the drawing board, sorting out how to keep the overall mission alive.

The existential drawing board
What to do? Well, a little bit from the GOAT usually answers that question:
“To be like the rock that the waves keep crashing over. It stands unmoved, and the raging of the seas falls still around it.” Marcus Aurelius
To end on a high note, there are two pieces of information for newsletter subscribers before anyone else:
1) My next solo trip will be to Indonesia for about six weeks, where I will explore the main islands of Java and Sumatra. My first time properly in Asia (Israel and Turkey before)… BIG.
2) I will be hosting my first group trip later this year - when, where, and all other details will be announced here on April 21st (mark your calendars).
We keep striving, learning as we go. Unfortunately, there’s no other way.
Sincerely,
Jacob
P.S. If the group trip wound up being composed only of newsletter subscribers… that would be legendary.
