Travel Theft & Lonely Chapter

Legal Travel Theft
Starting January 8th 2025, the United Kingdom now requires all American travelers (I imagine travelers of any country) to register their information online and pay $13 ahead of arrival.
Electronic Travel Authorization
The European Union will institute the same sometime this spring.
From what I understand, they are good for a couple of years entry…
But I don’t care.

First week of study abroad for my final semester in college, January 2018. Absolutely thrilled.
Let’s get this out of the way:
Yes, I am extraordinarily privileged to possess a United State passport, with the many powers it brings.
That aside - the trend for all countries should be to reduce the prices of visas, not increase them. The myriad of problems today in the U.K. and Europe are not to be solved by these increases. They are merely the newest edition to governments scraping money from people.
So… we’ll pay! What choice do we have?
And that is why we they decided to do it…
The Lonely Chapter
If I told you that there’s a person who left the life most people live, to pursue a path of their own, what do you think the consequences would be for their social life?
The Lonely Chapter
An idea coined by Chris Williamson and Alex Hormozi describes a particularly challenging part in the hero’s journey:
“I was too different from the friends that I had, but not successful enough to be friends with the people I wanted to be friends with.” - Alex Hormozi
Undoubtedly true, but will of course include a level of variation for each individual.
And yet - there is another chasm of this chapter:
Romance
Whether in a state of intensive, all sacrificing work, or constantly on the move to the far reaches of the globe - neither is conducive to meeting someone.
Is it possible? Of course. Are we to be optimistic? Surely.
But odds are odds.
So what’s to do when you’re in your feels about your romantic desert, but are unwavering in your current pursuit?
Remember another Hormozi concept:
Did you think it would be easy? No
Did you think it would be hard? Yes
This is what hard feels like.
Carry on.
Sincerely,
Jacob
P.S. It’s going to take a lot of faith, more than you can imagine.
