Trust no one & Life's terrors

Trust no one
I hate to be extreme and negative, but what I would hate more is for you to experience issues on your trip that derail your dreams and happiness.
You see, as I travel for 6+ months across Africa (be a friend and send a friend one of my reels @jacobtempler) my flexibility insulates me from totally unraveling plans.
While placing your trust in companies is not a perfect way to ensure everything works smoothly, it is a better bet than to put your trust in individuals.
On my current travels in Tanzania, I placed my trust in an individual I knew from my time here ten years ago. I thought that someone who worked in tourism would surely be reliable.
He’s turned out to be anything but, and my climb of Kilimanjaro may wind up being delayed because of it.
Someone without my flexibility might lose their entire trip because of this. That can’t happen.
There are of course exceptions to any rule (I can think of a clear one for someone I know in Egypt), but please follow my warning to save yourself a disaster.
Life can be horrific
We all have problems, and no matter how high you ascend in life, they’ll never all go away.
Sometimes it takes hearing about someone else’s problems to get you to settle down.
When you’re bent out of shape about your hike being delayed or cancelled, but learn that someone had there girlfriend, newborn, mother, grandmother, uncle, and close friend die, within two weeks of each other - you stop yourself.
Your closest friends and family being safe and healthy is a blessing beyond what most of us ever consider.
It takes one phone call on a regular Friday to turn your life upside down.
Sincerely,
Jacob
P.S. I’ll be offline for a week while I climb Kilimanjaro, but know I will be coming back with a FIRE in me.
